How dry-to-cooked conversion works
The cooking yield factor expresses how many grams of prepared food are obtained from one gram of dry food. For example, a factor of 2.5 means 100 g dry food is estimated to weigh 250 g after cooking. This is an illustration, not a universal factor.
Cooking yield varies with water, cooking time, draining and preparation method. Nutrient estimates assume the reference dry-food nutrients remain in the dish; losses from cooking or discarded liquids are not automatically accounted for.
