Mealisa Terms of Use

1. Provider and scope

Mealisa is provided by Asadullin Akhat, operating Mealisa as a registered Gewerbe in Germany, Spreeallee 10, 16321 Bernau bei Berlin, Germany. Contact: support@mealisa.com.

These Terms describe the Mealisa nutrition service, including its iOS app, related API and optional website account and bookmark features. The Apple Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement governs the license to the iOS app unless a different license agreement is expressly provided through the App Store. Apple's terms also govern purchases made through the App Store. These Terms do not replace mandatory consumer rights.

The website offers optional sign-in and a personal list of bookmarked articles. Reading public articles does not require an account. Web bookmarks and profile preferences are separate from iOS food-diary, subscription and health-profile data, although the same Firebase Authentication sign-in identity may be used by both services. Website bookmarks are not a subscription feature, and bookmarking does not confer PRO access in the app.

2. What Mealisa does

Mealisa helps you record food and expenses, estimate calories and macronutrients, analyze selected photos or text, find recipes, and plan meals. Some functions use automated analysis and may require an internet connection. Available functions and limits are shown in the app; some require an active PRO subscription. Results depend on the information you provide and may vary.

3. Account and permitted use

An account is required for account-based features. You must provide information you are entitled to use and keep your sign-in method secure. Use the service lawfully. Do not attempt to access another person's account, interfere with the service, circumvent feature limits or upload material that infringes another person's rights. If you enter information about another person for family meal planning, make sure you are entitled to do so and avoid entering unnecessary sensitive details.

You must be at least 18 years old to create or use a Mealisa account. Before using the app, you must confirm that you meet this requirement. People under 18 may not use an account, including with parental permission. This confirmation is separate from optional consent to health-data processing or analytics.

The same 18+ account rule applies to website registration and saved-article accounts. When you register on the website or first enable bookmark features after signing in, you must declare that you are at least 18. The declaration is self-reported; Mealisa does not ask the website user for a birth date or identity documents for this check. Confirming age for website bookmarks does not give separate consent to optional iOS health-data processing or analytics.

Personal calorie and macronutrient targets, weight-related goals and personalized nutrition recommendations are intended for adults. Family recipe features may help estimate a shared recipe and portions, but must not be used as personalized calorie, weight-loss or medical recommendations for children.

4. Nutrition estimates, allergies and health

Mealisa provides informational estimates, not medical advice, diagnosis or treatment. Estimates of ingredients, portions, calories, macronutrients, restaurant dishes and other nutrition facts can be inaccurate. Check product labels and other reliable information before making decisions.

Allergy information is only a guide. Automated recognition cannot reliably establish whether a food contains an allergen or has been affected by cross-contact. If you have an allergy or intolerance, verify the ingredients and preparation directly with the manufacturer or restaurant. Do not rely on Mealisa as the sole basis for an allergy-related decision. For medical questions, consult a qualified professional.

Optional personalization using body information and allergens, and optional AI analysis of a food diary, are subject to the separate choices presented in the app. Declining or withdrawing a choice affects the corresponding feature as described in the Privacy Policy.

5. Your entries and product submissions

You remain responsible for the accuracy and legality of information, photos, recipes, prices and products you submit. You retain any rights you have in your own material. You allow Mealisa to process that material to provide the function you request, including sending relevant inputs to the service providers identified in the Privacy Policy. This permission is limited to operating and improving the requested service, subject to the choices and retention rules in that policy.

Products and prices submitted to the shared catalog may be reviewed, corrected, rejected or removed. A pending submission remains associated with your account. After approval, its association with your account is removed and the catalog item may remain available to others if you later delete your account. You should not submit third-party content that you do not have the right to use.

6. PRO subscriptions and billing

Mealisa offers auto-renewing PRO subscriptions with one-month, three-month and one-year periods, where available. The current price, currency, billing period and included features are displayed on the paywall and in Apple's purchase confirmation before you approve a purchase. Prices can differ by App Store country or region. Any free trial or introductory offer applies only when expressly shown in the Apple purchase flow.

Payment is charged by Apple to the Apple Account used for the purchase. The subscription renews automatically for the selected period until you cancel it through your Apple subscription settings. To avoid a further renewal, cancel before the renewal date shown by Apple. Cancellation generally stops future renewals; access for the paid period remains subject to Apple's subscription status and applicable law. Deleting your Mealisa account or removing the app does not itself cancel a subscription with Apple.

You can view or cancel subscriptions at Apple's subscription management page or in your device's Settings under your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Use “Restore Purchases” in Mealisa to recheck an eligible App Store purchase. Refund requests for App Store purchases can be submitted through Apple; statutory rights remain unaffected. Apple may handle billing, renewal and refund decisions under its applicable terms.

7. Availability and changes

We work to keep Mealisa available and correct errors, but temporary interruptions, network failures and changes in third-party services can affect functions. We may update the app for security, compatibility or functionality. Where a change materially affects a paid service or an existing contract, we will give any notice and remedies required by applicable law. We will not retrospectively change the price or duration of an already completed App Store purchase outside Apple's applicable procedures.

8. Suspension and account deletion

We may restrict access when reasonably necessary to address misuse, security threats or legal requirements, taking account of the circumstances and applicable law. You can request account deletion in the app under Profile → Account & usage → Delete account. Deletion of local and account-related information is described in the Privacy Policy. Please manage any Apple subscription separately as explained in section 6.

The website account page provides a "Delete website profile" action, which removes website bookmarks and the web-only profile but retains the shared Firebase Authentication identity and does not delete any iOS app data. For a request to delete the shared sign-in identity and associated data across Mealisa services, contact privacy@mealisa.com. We may need to verify ownership and coordinate deletion across services. Account deletion does not automatically cancel an App Store subscription; see section 6.

9. Privacy

The Mealisa Privacy Policy explains what information is processed, where it is kept, the available consent choices and how to exercise privacy rights. Privacy requests: privacy@mealisa.com.

10. Responsibility and consumer rights

Mealisa's estimates and recommendations require your review, especially where a mistake could affect health or safety. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including mandatory rights under applicable consumer law. Statutory remedies for digital services and subscriptions remain available where applicable.

11. Applicable law and disputes

German law applies to these Terms to the extent permitted by applicable law. This does not deprive consumers in other countries of mandatory protections of their habitual residence. Courts and dispute procedures are determined by applicable law; these Terms do not require consumers to give up a mandatory forum or remedy. Please contact support@mealisa.com first if you need help resolving a service issue.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the service or law. The current version and its update date will be published here. If a change materially affects existing users, we will give notice where required by law. New Terms do not remove rights already accrued under a previous version.
